Live a life bigger than myself...

It was not until I attend BC orientation that I found out only 1% of the world population actually HAVE the opportunity to receive a college education... the real question is: how many of this 1% would actually give back to the society instead of using the education to improve their own lives?

I am so grateful that I am part of this 1%. Thank God. I am also so grateful that I have the motivation and passion to serve the society. If I were in China, I probably would not be so aware of my surroundings because most of my peers nowadays are driven by fame and measure by money. That is their goal in life. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to experience and explore a life bigger than myself, to live a life meaningful for others.

My mother was telling me today about my younger cousin in China and how he got bullied at his work. I felt so terrible inside. Why would that happened? that should not happen to anyone! but what can I do about it? that is the reality. It is harsh, it is hard, it is not the environment that anyone would choose to live in, if they have the choice.

Later on, my friend and I were texting about college. While motivating her to not put her worries on $$$, I also realized new motivation for myself. If a higher education institution is worth the money, go for it. I noticed a lot of times we tend to stress so much about money that we forgot our mission in college: to grow not only intellectually but also as a whole person. To get there, we must first be willing to take risks, invest time, and make certain sacrifice.

So I got my AP scores back earlier today. I was not too happy about it. Not because of the scores themselves, but also because I don't know what to say to my dear teachers who spend a year preparing for this test with us. I am always like that. Sometimes I feel like I care too much about other's feeling that I neglected my own. A beloved friend reminded me that I am more than these scores. my intelligence is more than these scores. From past experience, I knew that I am not a good test taker. So from now on, I am going to work hard to improve my test taking skills and do my best in college.

Sometimes when I heard discouraging voice inside me, it is easy to just stay in that mood and think terrible of myself. The next time when that happens, I will not hesitate to give my friends a call and tell them how I feel because it helps a lot! That is what friends are for. I am so joyful for all the wonderful friends that I have in life. You guys not only keep me alive, but happily alive. :) <3 <3 <3

Okay, time to share some happiness.
So I came home today for the weekend after visiting MFA (Museum of Fine Arts) with my OTE friends. My mother cooked me delicious beef! love it even though it was a little bit too salty. But hey, you can not complain too much about homecook food, especially Mom's Special. Then I opened the refrig. and I saw my favorite fruit!!!

After I wet my face with watermelon,
Mom came to me with these well-cut watermelon cubes...
aiya!!!

But I guess it is more fun and more original to eat watermelon the old school way,
so here I am. continuing my expected journey. haha.

Have a Watermelon-Summer everyone!!!
^_____^

P.S.

Roomie Rosey introduced this song to me on our ride to MFA. ABSOUTELY LOVE IT! She is a singer, so as she sang along with this song, I heard beautiful harmony and it made me feel so peaceful inside! <3 Oh I miss my Roomie already! :D

  1. D: really 1%? wow!

I believe that no test or number can truly define a person's intelligence. Let's work hard and crush those future tests! :D
